After listening to the debate and the evidence each candidate presented, I read an article that had checked many of the facts spoken by the Republican candidates and I was shocked by how many of them were wrong, or tweaked to fit the candidates best interests. Throughout the debate and our class debrief, I was struck by how frequently each candidate used multiple logical fallacies to sidestep questions, change topics, attack opponents, and build tension. I think it’s very concerning that candidates are so concerned with getting votes that they are willing to make up facts that make them look good. If they become president, how are we supposed to know how much of what they tell us is truth or lies? I don’t believe in a president willing to lie at ease to the people they represent. As a US citizen I want to be informed, and I want the truth, no matter what it might cost. If this is how our government is going to be run then I am very skeptical of the future and what it brings.
