Final algebra ii exhibition
I am going to exhibit my exam problems project. For this option I will choose 5 of the problems I wrote before winter break and review the concepts, then I will assist people at exhibition in solving them. This project represents a lot of different concepts we studied, some of which were challenging. Creating problems that worked was my way of figuring out how to solve them and what I needed to work on understanding. I did not know how to do any of the concepts before the project and now I understand them well enough to create my own problems using the concepts, and teach people how to solve them. I learned how hard it is to create challenging problems that can be correctly and easily solved. You had to work with the problem several times to get it right. And it was challenging to explain your problem to other people and help them understand it.
If I were doing this exhibition again I would have picked different problems to exhibit. Some of my problems were really simple or just hard to explain what you would do to solve them without giving away the answer. I had one problem that was really challenging and I struggled with solving it, which made it difficult to help people solve it. I also feel like I wasted a lot of paper by having 5 copies of 5 different problems.
My greatest strengths in math are that I understand new content quickly and am pretty good at explaining things that confuse my peers and helping them to figure out the problem. Some weaknesses in math are that I struggle to make connections between the different topics and that I'm struggling to understand matrices. I also struggle with understanding the context straight out of the textbook. Next year I am taking pre-calc, so I will be learning how to understand matrices and work with them.
Semester Exam project
For this project we've spent the past month creating problems with varying levels of difficulty based on the material we've learned so far this year. We had to create and solve 10 problems, and a mix of all the problems will appear on the final semester exam. We had to have a variety of topics covering material from all the different chapters we've studied.
Project Reflection
I liked this project. It was challenging and I feel like I understand some of the material a lot more now. I've always enjoyed creating tests for myself and quizzing myself on material. Knowing that I might have a question in the exam is exciting for me.
I will study for the exam by looking over the review, and after creating a variety of problems, I know what areas I'm struggling with so I can go through the chapters and practice problems on them.
This semester is going ok for me. Math is one of the subjects I'm doing well in and feel fairly good about. I have some people in my class who are helping me with the areas I need help with. Some of the concepts are confusing but I'm understanding most of them.
