Los Cuentos Infantiles
The children's stories
Project Reflection
In Spanish we spent the past few weeks researching Spanish speaking countries and making children’s books. The books are written in Spanish and are about the country we chose. They include some research from the countries and have to follow common children’s story themes. My book is about a family of bats living in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. For the exhibition we went to Needham Elementary School and read our stories to a class of first graders.
This was a unique project because in this one instead of presenting our work, we connected with the community. It’s a cool idea. What I liked about this project was that I could really make it into a refined piece of work I wanted to show people. Other projects are harder because people don’t really want to read your 3 page essay or try to make connections between an abstract art piece and the paper it goes with. Although I struggle with drawing and had to really work hard to make my drawings look good, this was my favorite part of the project because I was able to improve my drawing skills and I had fun with the process. Next time I’d start my project earlier and do a better job of time management. I did a really poor job of that with this project and struggled to finish it.
