Dia de los muertos
In this project we studied the customs and rituals of the holiday Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Then we wrote Calaveras (poems) about a loved one or family member who is deceased. We made figurines out of wire, foil, and paper mache. I chose to do my dog, Tika. She died at 16, when I was about 7. Tika was a red siberian husky. Her full name was Ihoitika which meant Bold one in Lakota (a Native American language).
